Questions people actually ask

What is Kava?

Kava is a layer 1 that runs a Cosmos chain and an Ethereum compatible chain side by side. KAVA secures the network and is used for governance.

How do I stake KAVA with Atlas?

Connect Keplr on this page, or OKX Wallet on the chains it supports, then press Stake, enter an amount and approve it in your wallet. Your KAVA is delegated to the Atlas validator on Kava. A Ledger signs through Keplr. Leave a little KAVA liquid for fees.

Is staking KAVA with Atlas noncustodial?

Yes. Delegating tells Kava which validator your KAVA backs, and the tokens stay under your own keys. Atlas can't move or spend them. Only you can undelegate, redelegate or claim.

How long does it take to unstake KAVA?

Kava has an unbonding period of 21 days. Your KAVA earns nothing during that time and can't be moved, then it returns to your wallet on its own. Governance can change the period, so check the figure in your wallet before you approve.

What does Atlas charge to stake KAVA?

Atlas takes a commission from your staking rewards only, never from the KAVA you stake. This page reads the current commission from the chain, and the rate it shows is what you earn after it.

Can I move KAVA staked with another validator to Atlas?

Yes. Press Redelegate, pick the validator you're leaving and choose an amount. Redelegating skips the unbonding wait, so your KAVA keeps earning. Kava then stops you redelegating that same stake again until one unbonding period has passed.

How are KAVA staking rewards paid?

Rewards build up as Kava produces blocks and wait for you to claim them. Press Claim on this page whenever you like. Turn on REStake and your rewards are staked again for you, after one approval in your wallet.

What are the risks of staking KAVA?

KAVA can lose market value, reward rates change, and staked tokens can't be sold until unbonding ends. A validator that breaks the network's rules can be slashed, and its delegators share that loss. Rewards are never guaranteed.
