Questions people actually ask

How do I stake bitcoin on Babylon with Atlas?

Connect a bitcoin wallet on this page, choose an amount and sign. Your wallet creates a Bitcoin transaction that locks the coins in a script only you can spend and names the Atlas finality provider. Keplr signs the Babylon side, and OKX Wallet can sign both sides on its own.

Does my bitcoin leave my control?

No. The BTC stays on the Bitcoin chain, locked by your own key. Nothing is wrapped and nothing is bridged, and Atlas never holds it.

What do I earn for staking bitcoin on Babylon?

Rewards are paid in BABY on Babylon Genesis and claimed from this page. The bitcoin rate is small on its own. Babylon pays most of its rewards to bitcoin stakers who also stake BABY from the same address.

What is the minimum, and how long is my bitcoin locked?

The terms card on this page reads the current minimum stake, the lock term and the unbonding time live from Babylon. You can start unbonding before the term ends, and the BTC is yours to withdraw once the unbonding time has passed.

Which wallets can stake bitcoin on Babylon?

A Ledger, Keplr, OKX Wallet or UniSat on the bitcoin side. A Ledger signs through Keplr with the Bitcoin app and then the Cosmos app, and approves every step on the device.

Can staked bitcoin be slashed?

Yes, in one case. If a finality provider signs two conflicting blocks, Babylon slashes a small share of the bitcoin staked with it. The terms card shows the current slashing rate.

How is this different from staking bitcoin on Starknet?

On Babylon you lock native bitcoin on the Bitcoin chain itself and earn BABY. On Starknet you stake a wrapped bitcoin token and earn STRK. Atlas offers both, each on its own page.
